What ceiling height do I need for overhead storage?
Minimum 8-foot ceilings are recommended, though 9+ feet is ideal. The racks themselves need 18-40 inches of clearance. Ensure you maintain at least 6 feet of headroom below the rack for safe movement and vehicle clearance.
Can I install ceiling racks on drywall?
Never mount ceiling racks directly to drywall. All loads must anchor to ceiling joists (wood) or concrete. Use a stud finder to locate joists and verify spacing. If joists are inaccessible, hire a professional to install blocking or reinforce the ceiling structure.
