Yes. Quality photocells measure ambient light levels, not direct sun. Our tests showed reliable operation during overcast days and storms. Avoid positioning under eaves where artificial light can trick sensors.
Can I install a hardwired fixture myself?
If you can wire a ceiling fan, you can handle most hardwired dusk-to-dawn lights. Turn off breakers, use a voltage tester, and follow NEC codes. When in doubt, hire an electrician—ETL listing requires proper installation to maintain warranty.
Why does my light flicker on and off?
Flickering indicates a failing photocell or light reflection confusing the sensor. Reposition the fixture away from reflective surfaces like white walls or car hoods. If issues persist, the photocell is defective—quality units should activate cleanly and stay on.
Are LED dusk-to-dawn lights worth the cost?
Absolutely. A 50W LED saves $120+ annually versus 400W HID and lasts 5x longer. Our 25-unit test group showed sub-$50 LEDs pay for themselves in 8 months through energy savings alone, not including bulb replacement costs.
Can I use a dusk-to-dawn bulb in any fixture?
