Are pneumatic nailers outdated compared to cordless?
Not for dedicated workshops. Pneumatic nailers are lighter, cheaper, and run indefinitely without charging. Cordless excels for mobile work and quick jobs. If you own a compressor, pneumatic remains the economical workhorse choice.
What length nails should I use for baseboard installation?

Absolutely not. Finish nailers use 15-18 gauge nails with small heads designed for trim attachment. Framing requires 10-12 gauge nails with full round heads that meet building codes. Using finish nails for framing creates dangerous structural failures.
How do I prevent wood splitting when using finish nailers?
Blunt nail tips act like wedges—always use sharp, high-quality nails. Keep nail points 1" from board ends and edges. Pre-drill hardwoods near ends. Orient nails across the grain when possible. Adjust depth so heads sit just below the surface without overdriving.
What maintenance do finish nailers require?
Pneumatic models need 3-5 drops of pneumatic oil daily and periodic O-ring replacement. Clean lint from magazine tracks weekly. Cordless nailers require battery contact cleaning and driver blade lubrication. Always disconnect air or battery before clearing jams.
