What's the difference between UL and ETL safety listings?
Both certify to identical OSHA standards; ETL is simply a competing lab to UL. ETL-listed cords undergo the same rigorous fire, shock, and overload testing. Choose either listing, but avoid uncertified cords that lack legitimate lab verification.
Can I bury an outdoor extension cord underground?
No—extension cords are not rated for burial and will fail within months. Moisture infiltration and soil pressure damage conductors. Use UF-B direct burial wire installed in conduit for permanent underground runs; it's designed for this purpose.
