Lawn and Garden — FAQ
What's the difference between metal and ABS plastic nozzles?
Metal nozzles (zinc alloy, brass) offer superior durability and pressure handling, lasting 5-10 years. ABS plastic models cost less, resist corrosion, and work fine for light-duty tasks but typically last 2-3 seasons before cracking or leaking.
How many spray patterns do homeowners actually need?
Seven patterns cover 95% of homeowner tasks: shower for plants, jet for cleaning, mist for seedlings, flat for rinsing, cone for broad coverage, soaker for deep watering, and angle for gutters. Additional patterns are nice but not essential.
Can these hose nozzles work with pressure washers?
No. Pressure washers operate at 1,000-3,000 PSI, while garden hose nozzles max out around 100 PSI. Using these nozzles with a pressure washer will destroy their internal mechanisms and void any warranty. Use dedicated pressure washer attachments instead.
What does GHT connection mean?
GHT stands for Garden Hose Thread, the standard 3/4-inch diameter thread used on residential outdoor spigots and hoses in North America. All nozzles in our review use this universal connection, ensuring compatibility with standard hoses.
How do I prevent leaks at the hose connection?
Always use a rubber washer inside the coupling. Hand-tighten firmly, then give a quarter-turn with pliers. Avoid overtightening, which cracks plastic threads. Replace washers annually or when you notice dripping. The AUTOMAN Brass set includes ten spare washers.
Which nozzle works best with low water pressure?
The INNAV8 performs best at low pressure due to its optimized internal channels. Avoid nozzles with built-in shutoff valves, which restrict flow. Test your spigot pressure first—if below 30 PSI, consider a booster pump rather than a different nozzle.
