Power Tools — FAQ
Can a sub-$100 impact driver really handle automotive lug nuts?
Yes. Our tests showed models like the AwxryoX 1700Nm deliver 1,200+ ft-lbs of breakaway torque, easily removing properly torqued passenger vehicle lug nuts (typically 80-100 ft-lbs). However, heavily rusted or over-torqued truck lugs may require more power.
What's the difference between an impact driver and impact wrench?
Impact drivers use 1/4" hex collets for screwdriver bits. Impact wrenches use 1/2" square drives for sockets. We tested both types since many users search 'impact driver' when needing wrench capability for automotive work.
Are brushless motors worth it under $100?
Absolutely. Brushless models delivered 35-50% longer runtime and maintained cooler operating temperatures during our torture tests. The efficiency gains easily justify the small price premium over brushed alternatives.
How many batteries do I need?
For DIY use, one 4.0Ah battery suffices. For automotive or construction work, two batteries eliminate downtime. Our runtime tests showed a single battery drives 150-200 3-inch screws on average.
Will these work with my existing drill batteries?
Only if they're the same brand and voltage platform. We tested proprietary battery systems. Adapters exist but void warranties and often reduce performance. Check compatibility before purchasing.
Can I use impact-rated bits in a regular drill?
Yes, but not vice versa. Impact-rated bits have tougher torsion zones. We destroyed standard Phillips bits in under 10 impacts during testing, while impact-rated bits lasted 500+ cycles.
