What's the difference between microfiber and polyester roller covers?
Microfiber holds more paint and releases it evenly for smoother finishes with fewer lap marks. Polyester works fine but requires more frequent reloading and can leave texture on ultra-smooth surfaces. Microfiber costs 30% more but lasts longer.
Do I really need an extension pole for wall painting?
For walls under 8 feet, a pole saves your back by eliminating constant bending into the tray. For ceilings, it's essential. A 2-4 foot telescoping pole costs less than $20 in most kits and reduces painting time by 25%.
How do I clean roller covers for reuse?
Run warm water over the cover immediately after painting, squeezing until water runs clear. For oil paints, use mineral spirits. Air dry completely before storage. Quality covers survive 5-10 cleanings; cheap ones mat after 2-3.
What nap thickness should I use?
