Do I need to buy a base separately?
Most umbrellas don't include bases. The DUMOS 15FT is the exception in our tests. For other models, budget an extra $30-60 for a weighted base. Fillable bases with sand or water are cheaper to move than solid concrete.
How do I secure a patio umbrella in wind without permanent mounting?
Use a heavy base (50+ lbs), close the umbrella when winds exceed 15mph, and consider a wind vent in the canopy. Some renters use bungee cords to temporarily tie the pole to balcony railings during storms, then remove them.
What's the best patio umbrella for frequent movers?
