What's the realistic weight limit for steel pegboard tiles?
Properly mounted steel tiles handle 50-75 lbs per square foot. A single 12"x16" tile supports approximately 65 lbs distributed across multiple hooks. Always anchor into studs or use heavy-duty drywall anchors—never rely on standard wall plugs.
Will these work in humid environments like basements or outdoor sheds?
Galvanized and powder-coated steel tiles perform excellently in humidity. Avoid bare metal or plastic in unconditioned spaces. For outdoor sheds, we recommend marine-grade stainless steel or adding a silicone sealant around mounting points.
Can I paint pegboard tiles to match my decor?
Steel tiles accept spray paint beautifully—scuff with 220-grit paper, prime with metal primer, then apply two coats. Plastic tiles require specialty plastic-bonding paint. Never paint the peg holes; use masking tape to keep them clean for proper hook fit.
