Do I need UL certification for residential work?
While not always required by code, UL certification proves the device meets stringent safety standards. It reduces liability and is often specified by builders. ETL is acceptable but less recognized by some inspectors.
Why do most smart plugs only support 2.4GHz WiFi?
2.4GHz offers better range through walls and materials found in electrical boxes. The lower frequency also requires less power, reducing heat in the compact plug housing. For jobsites, this improves connection reliability.
Can I install smart plugs on 20A circuits?
