What's the difference between RO and carbon filtration?
Reverse osmosis removes dissolved solids (TDS), heavy metals, and minerals through a semi-permeable membrane, producing pure but slightly acidic water. Carbon filters improve taste and remove chlorine, lead, and some chemicals while preserving healthy minerals. RO is best for well water; carbon suffices for most municipal water.
Will these filters work with my existing faucet?
Direct-connect filters (Waterdrop 10UA) attach to your cold water line and use your existing faucet. Most under-sink systems require installing a dedicated filtered water faucet, which means drilling a hole in your sink or countertop. Check if your sink has a pre-drilled accessory hole before purchasing.
How do I know when to replace the filter cartridge?
Most systems include filter life indicators or recommend replacement based on time (6-12 months) or gallons (5,000-8,000). Watch for reduced flow rate, changed taste, or cloudy water. The CuZn's 5-year lifespan is an outlier—most need annual replacement.
